88617 Design Study Tour: Radical Hospitality (Bauhaus Open Studio)

Studio Leaders : Thea Brejzek and Christof Mayer (raumlabor)

The Bauhaus Open Studio explores aspects of the design history of the Bauhaus with contemporary strategies and materials. This year, we will be looking at  Georg Muche’s and Richard Paulick’s Steel House a  metal prototype house from 1926/27 and devise a radical  intervention into an existing GDR office block from the 1960s. Our studio is part of a large collaboration between raumlabor berlin, artists, cultural and refugee organisations and will develop the notion of radical hospitality from an interior and spatial design perspective.

Dates 20.6.-24.6. Dessau, weekend at your disposal, 27.6.-1.7. Berlin. There is the possibility to go to the Venice Architectural Biennale directly afterwards, 2.-5.7., depending on interest. Accommodation in Dessau is at the Bauhaus in single or double rooms, accommodation in Berlin self-organized.
