The 2018 Interior Architecture graduate projects reevaluate the space of critical encounter in Sydney’s institutions. By challenging a range of typologies through design praxis, the aim of the studio is to interrogate the formal and aesthetic characteristics of our contemporary interiors; to recognise how social deviation is enabled in spatial expression. Students have produced typological revisions that aspire to influence, alter and depart from established institutional entrenchment.
‘The Spectacle Society’ confronts the Spectacle by resisting, questioning, reevaluating, and subverting the position of the institution in the contemporary city to narrate alternate scenarios and social contracts for its inhabitants.
On behalf of our 3rd Year Interior Architecture students and the UTS Design and Architecture Faculty, we would like to say a very special THANK YOU to our sponsors: Warren and Mahoney, Steensen Varming, CULT, Architectus, INSTYLE and Tonkin Zulaikha Greer.
