Global Studio_NZ looks at ideas of event, installation and spatial design as a means of reimagining social participation in the post-earthquake city of Christchurch, New Zealand. This Studio involves the conceptualisation, design and making of an event installation based on eating, food, social exchange and relational aesthetics as part of Christchurch’s biennale art and design festival, FESTA (http://festa.org.nz/).
Now in its five iteration, FESTA is a major international art and design festival inspired by the collective want to rebuild the urban identity and civic experience of Christchurch after the devastating earthquake of 2012. Global Studio_NZ will ask questions of how the daily practice of eating with friends has the agency to change a cities future through social activation.
